Hadith text
Narrated Al-Bara' bin `Azib:On the day of Nahr Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) delivered the Khutba after the `Id prayer and said, "Anyone who prayed like us and slaughtered the sacrifice like we did then he acted according to our (Nusuk) tradition of sacrificing, and whoever slaughtered the sacrifice before the prayer, then that was just mutton (i.e. not sacrifice)." Abu Burda bin Niyar stood up and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! By Allah, I slaughtered my sacrifice before I offered the (Id) prayer and thought that today was the day of eating and drinking (non-alcoholic drinks) and so I made haste (in slaughtering) and ate and also fed my family and neighbors." Al-Bara bin Azib (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Yaum-un-Nahr ke din Allah ke Rasool ne Eid ki namaz ke baad khutba di aur farmaya: "Jo humari tarah namaz padhe aur humari tarah qurbani zabah kare, usne humari (Nusuk) qurbani ki riwayat ke mutabiq amal kiya, aur jisne namaz se pehle apni qurbani zabah ki, woh sirf gosht hai (yaani qurbani nahi)." Abu Burda bin Niyar khade hue aur kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Allah ki qasam, maine (Eid ki) namaz padhne se pehle apni qurbani zabah kar li thi aur socha ke aaj khane-peene ka din hai (halal cheezon ka), isliye maine jaldi ki (zabah karke) aur khaya aur apne ghar walon aur padosiyon ko bhi khilaya." Allah ke Rasool ne farmaya: "Woh sirf gosht tha (qurbani nahi)." Phir Abu Burda ne kaha: "Mere paas ek jawan bakri hai, aur beshak woh do bhedon se behtar hai. Kya woh meri taraf se qurbani ke liye kaafi hogi?" Nabi ne jawab diya: "Haan. Magar tumhare baad kisi aur ke liye (qurbani ke tor par) kaafi nahi hogi."
