Hadith text
Narrated `Aisha:In the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ) the sun eclipsed and the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up to offer the prayer with the people and recited a long recitation, then he performed a prolonged bowing, and then lifted his head and recited a prolonged recitation which was shorter than the first. Then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than the first and then lifted his head and performed two prostrations. He then stood up for the second rak`a and offered it like the first. Then he stood up and said, "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of someone's life or death but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah which He shows to His worshipers. So whenever you see them, make haste for the prayer
Ayesha (رضی اللہ عنہا) bataati hain: Nabi ke zamane mein suraj grahan hua aur Nabi logon ke saath namaz padhne khade hue aur lambi tilawat ki, phir lambi der tak ruku kiya, phir sar utha kar lambi tilawat ki jo pehli se chhoti thi. Phir lambi der tak ruku kiya jo pehle se chhota tha, phir sar utha kar do sajde kiye. Phir doosri rakat ke liye khade hue aur pehli jaisi hi padhi. Phir khade hue aur farmaya: "Suraj aur chaand kisi ki zindagi ya maut ki wajah se grahan nahi hote, balki yeh Allah ki nishaniyon mein se do nishaniyan hain jo woh apne bandon ko dikhaata hai. Isliye jab tum unhe dekho, namaz ke liye jaldi karo."
