Hadith text

Narrated `Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila:Sahl bin Hunaif and Qais bin Sa`d were sitting in the city of Al-Qadisiya. A funeral procession passed in front of them and they stood up. They were told that funeral procession was of one of the inhabitants of the land i.e. of a non-believer, under the protection of Muslims. They said, "A funeral procession passed in front of the Prophet (ﷺ) and he stood up. When he was told that it was the coffin of a Jew, he said, "Is it not a living being (soul)?

Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila bataate hain: Sahl bin Hunaif aur Qais bin Sa'd Al-Qadisiya shehar mein baithe the. Ek janaza unke saamne se guzra aur woh khade ho gaye. Unhe bataya gaya ke woh janaza ilaqe ke ek bashinde ka hai, yaani ek ghair-Musalman ka jo Musalmanon ki panah mein tha. Unhone kaha: "Ek janaza Nabi ke saamne se guzra tha aur Aap khade ho gaye the. Jab unhe bataya gaya ke yeh ek Yahudi ka taboot hai, Aap ne farmaya: 'Kya woh (bhi) ek zinda rooh nahi thi?'"
