Hadith text

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) shrouded every two martyrs of Uhud in one piece of cloth and then he would ask, "Which of them knew more Qur'an?" When one of them was pointed out he would put him first in the grave. He said, "I am a witness on these." Then he ordered them to be buried with blood on their bodies. Neither did he offer their funeral prayer nor did he get them washed. (Jabir bin `Abdullah added): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to ask about the martyrs of Uhud as to which of them knew more of the Qur'an." And when one of them was pointed out as having more of it he would put him first in the grave and then his companions. (Jabir added): My father and my uncle were shrouded in one sheet

Jabir bin Abdullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool ne Uhud ke har do shaheedon ko ek kapde mein kafan diya, phir puchte: "Inme se kisko Quran zyada aata tha?" Jab ek ko ishara kiya jaata, Aap use pehle Lahd (qabar ka andar wala hissa) mein rakhte. Aap ne kaha: "Main inpar gawah hoon." Phir hukum diya ke unhe unke khoon samet dafn kiya jaaye, aur na unki namaz-e-janaza padhi gayi na unhe dhoya gaya. (Jabir bin Abdullah ne joda:) Allah ke Rasool Uhud ke shaheedon ke baare mein poochte the ke inme se kisko Quran zyada aata hai, aur jise zyada bataya jaata, use pehle Lahd mein rakhte, phir uske sathiyon ko. (Jabir ne joda:) Mere waalid aur mere chacha ek hi chadar mein kafan diye gaye.
