Narrated Ibn `Abbas:The Prophet (ﷺ) once passed by two graves, and those two persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He said, "They are being tortured not for a great thing (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other went about committing slander (to make enmity between friends). He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree split it into two pieces and fixed one on each grave. The people said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Why have you done so?" Ibn Abbas (رضی اللہ عنہما) bataate hain: Nabi ek baar do qabron ke paas se guzre, aur unme (dafn) do log azaab mein the. Aap ne farmaya: "Unhe kisi badi baat (se bachne mein kotahi) ke liye azaab nahi ho raha. Ek apne peshab se khud ko bachataa nahi tha, aur doosra chughli khataa tha (dosto ke darmiyan dushmani paida karne ke liye)." Phir Aap ne khajoor ke ek hare patte ko liya, use do tukdon mein baanta aur har qabar par ek tukda gaad diya. Logon ne pucha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Aapne aisa kyun kiya?" Aap ne jawab diya: "Mujhe ummeed hai ke unka azaab kam ho jaaye jab tak yeh (patte) sukh na jaayein."
