Sahih al-Bukhari 1362

Hadith text

Narrated `Ali:" We were accompanying a funeral procession in Baqi-I-Gharqad. The Prophet (ﷺ) came to us and sat and we sat around him. He had a small stick in his hand then he bent his head and started scraping the ground with it. He then said, "There is none among you, and not a created soul, but has place either in Paradise or in Hell assigned for him and it is also determined for him whether he will be among the blessed or wretched." A man said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Should we not depend on what has been written for us and leave the deeds as whoever amongst us is blessed will do the deeds of a blessed person and whoever amongst us will be wretched, will do the deeds of a wretched person?" The Prophet said, "The good deeds are made easy for the blessed, and bad deeds are made easy for the wretched." Then he recited the Verses:-- "As for him who gives (in charity) and is Allah-fearing And believes in the Best reward from Allah

Ali (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Hum Baqi-al-Gharqad mein ek janaze mein the. Nabi humare paas aaye aur baith gaye, hum bhi unke aas-paas baith gaye. Unke haath mein ek chhoti chhadi thi, phir unhone apna sar jhukaya aur zameen khurachne lage. Phir farmaya: "Tum mein se koi bhi, aur koi bhi paida ki hui rooh, aisi nahi jiske liye Jannat ya Dozakh mein jagah muqarrar na ki gayi ho, aur yeh bhi tay ho chuka hai ke woh khush-naseeb hoga ya badnaseeb." Ek shaks ne kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! To kya hum sirf apne liye jo likha ja chuka hai uspar bharosa karke amal chhod dein, kyunke jo khush-naseeb hoga woh khush-naseebon ke kaam karega, aur jo badnaseeb hoga woh badnaseebon ke kaam karega?" Nabi ne farmaya: "Khush-naseeb ke liye neik kaam asaan kar diye jaate hain, aur badnaseeb ke liye bure kaam asaan kar diye jaate hain." Phir Aap ne yeh ayaat padhi: "Jo (sadqa mein) deta hai aur Allah se darta hai, aur behtareen (Jannat ke) ajr par iman rakhta hai..."
