Sahih al-Bukhari 1398

Hadith text

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:A delegation of the tribe of `Abdul Qais came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! We are from the tribe of Rabi`a, and the infidels of the tribe of Mudar stand between us and you; so we cannot come to you except during the Sacred Months. Please order us to do something (religious deeds) which we may carry out and also invite to it our people whom we have left behind." The Prophet said, "I order you to do four things and forbid you four others: (I order you) to have faith in Allah, and confess that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, (and the Prophet (ﷺ) gestured with his hand like this (i.e. one knot) and to offer prayers perfectly and to pay the Zakat, and to pay one-fifth of the booty in Allah's Cause. And I forbid you to use Dubba', Hantam, Naqir and Muzaffat (all these are the names of utensils used for preparing alcoholic drinks)

Ibn Abbas (رضی اللہ عنہما) bataate hain: Abdul Qais qabile ka ek wafd Nabi ke paas aaya aur kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Hum Rabia qabile se hain, aur Mudar qabile ke kaafir humare aur aapke darmiyan hain, isliye hum sirf haram maheenon mein aapke paas aa sakte hain. Kripya humein kuch (deeni) kaam karne ka hukum dein jise hum khud amal mein laa sakein aur unhe bhi bata sakein jinhe hum peechhe chhod aaye hain." Nabi ne farmaya: "Main tumhe chaar cheezon ka hukum deta hoon aur chaar se rokta hoon: (Hukum deta hoon) Allah par iman lao, aur gawahi do ke Allah ke siwa koi mabood nahi (aur Nabi ne apne haath se ek ghantthh jaisa ishara kiya), aur namaz mukammal padho, aur Zakat do, aur Allah ki raah mein maal-e-ghanimat ka paanchwan hissa do. Aur main tumhe Dubba, Hantam, Naqir aur Muzaffat (sab sharab banane ke bartanon ke naam) istemal karne se mana karta hoon."
