Hadith text

Narrated Yazid bin Ruman from `Urwa:`Aisha said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to her, "O Aisha! Were your nation not close to the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance, I would have had the Ka`ba demolished and would have included in it the portion which had been left, and would have made it at a level with the ground and would have made two doors for it, one towards the east and the other towards the west, and then by doing this it would have been built on the foundations laid by Abraham." That was what urged Ibn-Az-Zubair to demolish the Ka`ba. Yazid said, "I saw Ibn-Az-Zubair when he demolished and rebuilt the Ka`ba and included in it a portion of Al-Hijr (the unroofed portion of Ka`ba which is at present in the form of a compound towards the northwest of the Ka`ba). I saw the original foundations of Abraham which were of stones resembling the humps of camels." So Jarir asked Yazid, "Where was the place of those stones?" Yazid said, "I will just now show it to you." So Jarir accompanied Yazid and entered Al-Hijr, and Yazid pointed to a place and said, "Here it is." Jarir said, "It appeared to me about six cubits from Al-Hijr or so

Yazid bin Ruman, Urwa ke hawale se: Ayesha ne kaha ke Nabi ne unse kaha: "Aye Ayesha! Agar tumhari qaum abhi haal hi mein jahiliyat se na nikli hoti, main Ka'ba girvata aur usme woh hissa shamil karta jo chhod diya gaya tha, aur isse zameen ke barabar kar deta, aur do darwaze banata, ek mashriq ki taraf ek magrib ki taraf, aur isi tarah yeh Ibrahim ki buniyaad par dobara banti." Yehi wajah thi jisne Ibn-Az-Zubair ko Ka'ba girvane par uksaaya. Yazid ne kaha: "Maine Ibn-Az-Zubair ko dekha jab unhone Ka'ba giraaya aur dobara banaya, aur usme Al-Hijr ka ek hissa shamil kiya (Ka'ba ka woh bina chhat wala hissa jo abhi Ka'ba ke shimal-magrib mein ek angaan ki tarah hai). Maine Ibrahim ki asli buniyaad dekhi jo unt ke ku bon jaise pattharon se bani thi." Jarir ne Yazid se pucha: "Woh patthar kahan the?" Yazid ne kaha: "Main abhi tumhe dikhataa hoon." To Jarir Yazid ke saath Al-Hijr mein gaye, aur Yazid ne ek jagah dikhate huye kaha: "Yahin hai." Jarir ne kaha: "Mujhe laga ke woh Al-Hijr se taqreeban chhe haath door tha."
