Hadith text

Narrated Muhammad bin `Abdur-Rahman bin Nawfal Al-Qurashi:I asked `Urwa bin Az-Zubair (regarding the Hajj of the Prophet (ﷺ) ). `Urwa replied, "Aisha narrated, 'When the Prophet (ﷺ) reached Mecca, the first thing he started with was the ablution, then he performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba and his intention was not `Umra alone (but Hajj and `Umra together).' " Later Abu Bakr performed the Hajj and the first thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not `Umra alone (but Hajj and `Umra together). And then `Umar did the same. Then `Uthman performed the Hajj and the first thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not `Umra alone. And then Muawiya and `Abdullah bin `Umar did the same. I performed Hajj with Ibn Az-Zubair and the first thing he started with was Tawaf of the Ka`ba and it was not `Umra alone, (but Hajj and `Umra together). Then I saw the Muhajirin (Emigrants) and Ansar doing the same and it was not `Umra alone. And the last person I saw doing the same was Ibn `Umar, and he did not do another `Umra after finishing the first. Now here is Ibn `Umar present amongst the people! They neither ask him nor anyone of the previous ones. And all these people, on entering Mecca, would not start with anything unless they had performed Tawaf of the Ka`ba, and would not finish their Ihram. And no doubt, I saw my mother and my aunt, on entering Mecca doing nothing before performing Tawaf of the Ka`ba, and they would not finish their Ihram. And my mother informed me that she, her sister, Az-Zubair and such and such persons had assumed Ihram for `Umra and after passing their hands over the Corner (the Black Stone) (i.e. finishing their Umra) they finished their Ihram

Muhammad bin Abdur-Rahman bin Nawfal Al-Qurashi bataate hain: Maine Urwa bin Az-Zubair se (Nabi ke Hajj ke baare mein) pucha. Urwa ne jawab diya: "Ayesha ne kaha: 'Jab Nabi Mecca pahunche, sabse pehle unhone wudu kiya, phir Ka'ba ka Tawaf kiya aur unka iraada sirf Umrah nahi tha (balki Hajj-Umrah dono).' " Baad mein Abu Bakr ne bhi Hajj kiya aur sabse pehle Ka'ba ka Tawaf kiya, aur yeh sirf Umrah nahi tha. Phir Umar ne bhi yehi kiya. Phir Uthman ne bhi Hajj kiya aur sabse pehle Ka'ba ka Tawaf kiya, aur yeh sirf Umrah nahi tha. Phir Muawiya aur Abdullah bin Umar ne bhi yehi kiya. Maine Ibn Az-Zubair ke saath Hajj kiya aur sabse pehle unhone Ka'ba ka Tawaf kiya, aur yeh sirf Umrah nahi tha (balki Hajj-Umrah dono). Phir maine Muhajireen aur Ansaar ko bhi aisa hi karte dekha, aur yeh sirf Umrah nahi thi. Aur aakhri shaks jise maine aisa karte dekha woh Ibn Umar the, aur unhone pehle ke baad doosra Umrah nahi kiya. Ab Ibn Umar khud logon mein maujood hain! Na woh unse poochte hain na pehle ke logon se. Aur sab log, Mecca mein daakhil hote hue, sabse pehle Ka'ba ka Tawaf karte the, aur apna Ihram khatam nahi karte the. Aur beshak, maine apni maa aur khala ko Mecca mein daakhil hote hue Ka'ba ka Tawaf karne se pehle kuch aur na karte dekha, aur woh apna Ihram khatam nahi karti thi. Aur meri maa ne mujhe bataya ke unhone, unki behn, Az-Zubair, aur falaan-falaan logon ne Umrah ka Ihram baandha, aur Kone (Hajr-e-Aswad) par apne haath pherane ke baad (yaani apna Umrah khatam karne ke baad) unhone apna Ihram khatam kar diya.
