Hadith text

Narrated `Amr bin Maimun:I saw `Umar, offering the Fajr (morning) prayer at Jam'; then he got up and said, "The pagans did not use to depart (from Jam') till the sun had risen, and they used to say, 'Let the sun shine on Thabir (a mountain).' But the Prophet (ﷺ) contradicted them and departed from Jam' before sunrise

Amr bin Maimun bataate hain: Maine Umar ko Jam' mein Fajr ki namaz padhte dekha; phir woh uthe aur kaha: "Mushrik log tab tak (Jam' se) nahi nikalte the jab tak suraj na nikal aaye, aur woh kehte: 'Suraj Thabir (ek pahad) par chamke.' Magar Nabi ne unke khilaf jaakar suraj nikalne se pehle Jam' se nikal gaye."
