Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:When the Prophet (ﷺ) went out for (the battle of) Uhud, some of his companions (hypocrites) returned (home). A party of the believers remarked that they would kill those (hypocrites) who had returned, but another party said that they would not kill them. Zaid bin Thabit (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Jab Nabi Uhud (ki jung) ke liye nikle, unke kuch sahaba (munafiq) wapas laut aaye. Momino ke ek giroh ne kaha ke woh (munafiqon) ko jinhone waapsi ki, qatl karenge, magar doosre giroh ne kaha ke woh unhe qatl nahi karenge. Isliye yeh wahi nazil hui: "Phir tumhe kya hua ke munafiqon ke baare mein tum do giroh mein baT gaye" (4:88). Nabi ne farmaya: "Madina bure logon ko isse nikaal deta hai jaise aag lohe ki gandi cheezein nikaal deti hai."
