Hadith text

Narrated Ibn Ka`b bin Malik from his father:We had some sheep which used to graze at Sala'. One of our slavegirls saw a sheep dying and she broke a stone and slaughtered the sheep with it. My father said to the people, "Don't eat it till I ask the Prophet about it (or till I send somebody to ask the Prophet)." So, he asked or sent somebody to ask the Prophet, and the Prophet (ﷺ) permitted him to eat it. 'Ubaidullah (a sub-narrator) said, "I admire that girl, for though she was a slave-girl, she dared to slaughter the sheep

Ibn Ka'b bin Malik bataate hain, apne waalid ke hawale se: Humaari kuch bhedein thi jo Sala naam ki jagah par charti thi. Humaari ek launDi ne dekha ke ek bhed marne wali hai, aur usne ek patthar todkar us patthar se bhed zabah kar di. Mere waalid ne logon se kaha: "Ise mat khao jab tak main Nabi se iske baare mein na poochun (ya jab tak main kisi ko Nabi se poochne na bhejun)." Isliye unhone khud pucha ya kisi ko poochne bheja, aur Nabi ne unhe ise khane ki ijazat di. Ubaidullah (doosre raawi) ne kaha: "Mujhe us ladki ki tarif karni hai, kyunke woh launDi hote hue bhi usne himmat karke bhed zabah ki."
