Hadith text

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:I was accompanying the Prophet (ﷺ) on a journey and was riding a slow camel that was lagging behind the others. The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by me and asked, "Who is this?" I replied, "Jabir bin `Abdullah." He asked, "What is the matter, (why are you late)?" I replied, "I am riding a slow camel." He asked, "Do you have a stick?" I replied in the affirmative. He said, "Give it to me." When I gave it to him, he beat the camel and rebuked it. Then that camel surpassed the others thenceforth. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Sell it to me." I replied, "It is (a gift) for you, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." He said, "Sell it to me. I have bought it for four Dinars (gold pieces) and you can keep on riding it till Medina." When we approached Medina, I started going (towards my house). The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Where are you going?" I said, "I have married a widow." He said, "Why have you not married a virgin to fondle with each other?" I said, "My father died and left daughters, so I decided to marry a widow (an experienced woman) (to look after them)." He said, "Well done." When we reached Medina, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Bilal, pay him (the price of the camel) and give him extra money." Bilal gave me four Dinars and one Qirat extra. (A sub-narrator said): Jabir added, "The extra Qirat of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) never parted from me." The Qirat was always in Jabir bin `Abdullah's purse

Jabir bin Abdullah (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Main ek safar mein Nabi ke saath tha aur main ek dheeme oont par sawar tha jo doosron se peeche rah gaya tha. Nabi mere paas se guzre aur pucha: "Yeh kaun hai?" Maine jawab diya: "Jabir bin Abdullah." Aap ne pucha: "Kya baat hai (kyun der ho rahi hai)?" Maine jawab diya: "Main dheeme oont par sawar hoon." Aap ne pucha: "Kya tumhare paas chhadi hai?" Maine haan mein jawab diya. Aap ne kaha: "Mujhe do." Jab maine unhe di, unhone oont ko maara aur daanta. Phir woh oont tab se sab se aage nikalne laga. Nabi ne kaha: "Ise mujhe bech do." Maine jawab diya: "Yeh aapke liye hai, Ya Allah ke Rasool!" Aap ne kaha: "Ise mujhe becho. Maine ise chaar Dinar (sona) mein khareeda hai, aur tum ispar Madina tak sawar rah sakte ho." Jab hum Madina ke qareeb pahunche, main (apne ghar ki taraf) jaane laga. Nabi ne pucha: "Tum kahan ja rahe ho?" Maine kaha: "Maine ek biwah aurat se shaadi ki hai." Aap ne pucha: "Kunwari se shaadi kyun nahi ki, taake tum ek-doosre ke saath khel sakte?" Maine kaha: "Mere waalid ka intiqal ho gaya aur unhone betiyaan chhodi, isliye maine ek biwah (tajurbekaaar aurat) se shaadi karne ka faisla kiya (unki dekhbhal ke liye)." Aap ne kaha: "Achha kiya." Jab hum Madina pahunche, Allah ke Rasool ne kaha: "Aye Bilal, ise (oont ki qeemat) do aur kuch izafa bhi." Bilal ne mujhe chaar Dinar aur ek Qirat izafi diye. (Doosre raawi ne kaha:) Jabir ne joda: "Allah ke Rasool ka izafi Qirat mujhse kabhi juda nahi hua." Woh Qirat hamesha Jabir bin Abdullah ke thaili mein rahta.
