Sahih al-Bukhari 2459

Hadith text

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." Abdullah bin Amr (رضی اللہ عنہما) bataate hain: Nabi ne farmaya: "Jiske paas yeh chaar khasiyaten hain, woh munafik hai, aur jiske paas in chaaron mein se koi ek ho, uske paas munafiqat ki ek khasiyat hai jab tak woh usse chhod na de. Yeh hain: (1) Jab woh baat kare, jhoot bole; (2) jab wada kare, tore; (3) jab ahad kare, dhoka de; (4) aur jab jhagda kare, be-adabi se, bure aur gaali-gluch bhare tareeke se pesh aaye."
