Hadith text
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Beware! Avoid sitting on the roads (ways)." The people said, "There is no way out of it as these are our sitting places where we have talks." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you must sit there, then observe the rights of the way." They asked, "What are the rights of the way?" He said, "They are the lowering of your gazes (on seeing what is illegal to look at), refraining from harming people, returning greetings, advocating good and forbidding evil
Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Nabi ne farmaya: "Khabardar! Raaston par baithne se bacho." Logon ne kaha: "Iska koi ilaaj nahi kyunke yeh humari baithne ki jagahein hain jahan hum baatchit karte hain." Nabi ne kaha: "Agar tumhe wahan baitha hi hai, to raaste ke haqq ka khayaal rakho." Unhone pucha: "Raaste ke haqq kya hain?" Aap ne kaha: "Apni nigaahen neeche rakhna (jo dekhna haram hai use dekhne se bachna), logon ko takleef na dena, salaam ka jawab dena, achhi baat ka hukum dena aur buri baat se rokna."
