Sahih al-Bukhari 2491

Hadith text

Narrated Nafi`:Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'If one manumits his share of a jointly possessed slave, and can afford the price of the other shares according to the adequate price of the slave, the slave will be completely manumitted; otherwise he will be partially manumitted.' " (Aiyub, a sub-narrator is not sure whether the saying " ... otherwise he will be partially manumitted" was said by Nafi` or the Prophet)

Nafi bataate hain: Ibn Umar ne kaha: "Allah ke Rasool ne farmaya: 'Agar koi saanjhi milkiyat wale gulaam mein apna hissa azaad karta hai, aur woh baaki hisson ki qeemat gulaam ki munasib qeemat ke mutabiq de sakta hai, gulaam poori tarah azaad ho jaayega; warna woh sirf ansik tor par azaad hoga.'" (Aiyub, doosre raawi ko yaqeen nahi ke "...warna woh sirf ansik tor par azaad hoga" yeh baat Nafi ne kahi ya Nabi ne.)
