Book 49: Manumission of Slaves · Hadith 2
Hadith text
Narrated Abu Dhar:I asked the Prophet, "What is the best deed?" He replied, "To believe in Allah and to fight for His Cause." I then asked, "What is the best kind of manumission (of slaves)?" He replied, "The manumission of the most expensive slave and the most beloved by his master." I said, "If I cannot afford to do that?" He said, "Help the weak or do good for a person who cannot work for himself." I said, "If I cannot do that?" He said, "Refrain from harming others for this will be regarded as a charitable deed for your own good
Abu Dharr (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Maine Nabi se pucha: "Sabse behtareen amal kya hai?" Aap ne jawab diya: "Allah par iman rakhna aur uski raah mein jung karna." Maine phir pucha: "Sabse behtareen qisam ki azaadi (gulaamon ki) kaunsi hai?" Aap ne jawab diya: "Sabse mehanga gulaam ko azaad karna aur us gulaam ko jo uske maalik ko sabse pyaara ho." Maine kaha: "Agar main aisa na kar sakoon?" Aap ne kaha: "Kamzor ki madad karo ya us shaks ke liye kuch achha karo jo khud kaam nahi kar sakta." Maine kaha: "Agar main woh bhi na kar sakoon?" Aap ne kaha: "Doosron ko takleef pahunchane se bacho, kyunke yeh tumhare apne bhale ke liye ek sadqe ka amal maana jaayega."
