Book 49: Manumission of Slaves · Hadith 22
Hadith text
Narrated Hisham:My father told me that Hakim bin Hizam manumitted one-hundred slaves in the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance and slaughtered one-hundred camels (and distributed them in charity). When he embraced Islam he again slaughtered one-hundred camels and manumitted one-hundred slaves. Hakim said, "I asked Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), 'O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What do you think about some good deeds I used to practice in the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance regarding them as deeds of righteousness?' Allah's Apostle said, "You have embraced Islam along with all those good deeds you did
Hisham bataate hain: Mere waalid ne mujhe bataya ke Hakim bin Hizam ne jahiliyat ke zamane mein sau gulaam azaad kiye aur sau unt zabah kiye (aur sadqa mein baante). Jab woh Musalman hue, unhone phir sau unt zabah kiye aur sau gulaam azaad kiye. Hakim ne kaha: "Maine Allah ke Rasool se pucha: 'Ya Allah ke Rasool! Jahiliyat ke zamane mein maine kuch neik amal kiye jinhe main neik samajhta tha, unke baare mein aapki kya raay hai?' Allah ke Rasool ne kaha: 'Tum Islam mein daakhil hue us sab neki ke saath jo tumne pehle ki.'"
