Hadith text

Narrated 'Amir:I heard An-Nu`man bin Bashir on the pulpit saying, "My father gave me a gift but `Amra bint Rawaha (my mother) said that she would not agree to it unless he made Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as a witness to it. So, my father went to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, 'I have given a gift to my son from `Amra bint Rawaha, but she ordered me to make you as a witness to it, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!' Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) asked, 'Have you given (the like of it) to everyone of your sons?' He replied in the negative. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children.' My father then returned and took back his gift

Aamir bataate hain: Maine An-Nu'man bin Bashir ko mimbar par kehte suna: "Mere waalid ne mujhe ek tohfa diya magar Amra bint Rawaha (meri maa) ne kaha ke woh isse raazi nahi hongi jab tak woh Allah ke Rasool ko iska gawaah na banaye. Isliye mere waalid Allah ke Rasool ke paas gaye aur kaha: 'Maine Amra bint Rawaha ke bete ko ek tohfa diya hai, magar unhone mujhse aapko iska gawaah banane ko kaha, Aye Allah ke Rasool!' Allah ke Rasool ne pucha: 'Kya tumne apne sab beton ko (isi jaisa) diya hai?' Unhone na mein jawab diya. Allah ke Rasool ne kaha: 'Allah se daro, aur apne bachchon ke saath insaaf karo.' Mere waalid phir wapas gaye aur apna tohfa wapas le liya."
