Hadith text

Narrated Anas (ra):When the Holy Verse: 'By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, it means here Allah's Reward i.e., Paradise), unless you spend of that which you love..', (V 3:92) was revealed, Abu Talha went to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Allah, the Blessed, the Superior stated in His book: 'By no means shall you attain Birr, unless you spend of that which you love....' (V 3:92) and the most beloved property to me is Bairuha' (which was a garden where Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to go to sit in its shade and drink from its water). I give it to Allah and His Messenger (ﷺ) hoping for Allah's Reward in the Hereafter. So, O Allah's Messenger! Use it as Allah orders you to use it." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Bravo! O Abu Talha, it is fruitful property. We have accepted it from you and now we return it to you. Distribute it amongst your relatives." So, Abu Talha distributed it amongst his relatives, amongst whom were Ubai and Hassan. When Hassan sold his share of that garden to Mu'awiyya, he was asked, "How do you sell Abu Talha's Sadaqa?" He replied, "Why should not I sell a Sa' of date for Sa' of money?" The garden was situated on the courtyard of the palace of Bani Hudailah built by Mu'awiya

Anas (رضی اللہ عنہ) bataate hain: Jab paak Ayat nazil hui: "Tum kabhi Al-Birr (neki, Jannat) nahi paoge jab tak us cheez ko sadqa na do jo tumhe pyaari ho" (3:92), Abu Talha Allah ke Rasool ke paas gaye aur kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Allah, jo Barakaton wala aur Buland hai, apni Kitaab mein farmata hai: 'Tum kabhi Al-Birr nahi paoge jab tak us cheez ko sadqa na do jo tumhe pyaari ho' (3:92), aur meri sabse pyaari jaidad Bairuha hai (ek baag jahan Allah ke Rasool jaakar chhaon mein baithte aur uska paani pite the). Main ise Allah aur uske Rasool ko dena chahta hoon, Aakhirat mein Allah ke ajr ki ummeed rakhte huye. Isliye, Ya Allah ke Rasool! Ise wahan istemal kijiye jahan Allah aapko hukum de." Allah ke Rasool ne kaha: "Wah! Aye Abu Talha, yeh faidamand jaidad hai. Humne yeh tumse qubool kar li hai aur ab hum ise tumhe wapas karte hain. Ise apne rishtedaron mein taqseem karo." Isliye Abu Talha ne ise apne rishtedaron mein taqseem kiya, jinme Ubai aur Hassan bhi the. Jab Hassan ne baag mein apna hissa Muawiya ko becha, unse pucha gaya: "Tum Abu Talha ka sadqa kyun bechte ho?" Unhone jawab diya: "Kyun na main khajoor ka Sa paisa ke Sa ke badle bechun?" Baag Bani Hudaila ke mahal ke aangaan mein tha jo Muawiya ne banwaya tha.
