Sahih al-Bukhari 2798

Hadith text

Narrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a sermon and said, "Zaid took the flag and was martyred, and then Ja`far took the flag and was martyred, and then `Abdullah bin Rawaha took the flag and was martyred too, and then Khalid bin Al-Walid took the flag though he was not appointed as a commander and Allah made him victorious." The Prophet (ﷺ) further added, "It would not please us to have them with us." Aiyub, a sub-narrator, added, "Or the Prophet, shedding tears, said, 'It would not please them to be with us

Anas bin Malik bataate hain: Nabi ne khutba diya aur kaha: "Zaid ne jhandaa liya aur shaheed hue, phir Ja'far ne jhanda liya aur shaheed hue, phir Abdullah bin Rawaha ne jhanda liya aur woh bhi shaheed hue, phir Khalid bin Al-Walid ne jhanda liya chahe unhe sardaaar muqarrar nahi kiya gaya tha, aur Allah ne unhe fatah di." Nabi ne aage kaha: "Humein achha nahi lagega agar woh humare saath (is duniya mein) hote." Aiyub, doosre raawi, ne joda: "Ya Nabi ne, aansu bahate huye, kaha: 'Unhe humare saath rehna pasand nahi aata.'"
