Sahih al-Bukhari 2801

Hadith text

Narrated Anas:The Prophet (ﷺ) sent seventy men from the tribe of Bani Sulaim to the tribe of Bani Amir. When they reached there, my maternal uncle said to them, "I will go ahead of you, and if they allow me to convey the message of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (it will be all right); otherwise you will remain close to me." So he went ahead of them and the pagans granted him security But while he was reporting the message of the Prophet (ﷺ) , they beckoned to one of their men who stabbed him to death. My maternal uncle said, "Allah is Greater! By the Lord of the Ka`ba, I am successful." After that they attacked the rest of the party and killed them all except a lame man who went up to the top of the mountain. (Hammam, a sub-narrator said, "I think another man was saved along with him)." Gabriel informed the Prophet (ﷺ) that they (i.e the martyrs) met their Lord, and He was pleased with them and made them pleased. We used to recite, "Inform our people that we have met our Lord, He is pleased with us and He has made us pleased " Later on this Qur'anic Verse was cancelled. The Prophet (ﷺ) invoked Allah for forty days to curse the murderers from the tribe of Ral, Dhakwan, Bani Lihyan and Bani Usaiya who disobeyed Allah and his Apostle

Anas bataate hain: Nabi ne Bani Sulaim qabile se sattar log Bani Amir qabile ke paas bheje. Jab woh wahan pahunche, mere mama ke bhai ne unse kaha: "Main tumse aage jata hoon, aur agar woh mujhe Allah ke Rasool ka sandesh pahunchane denge (to theek hai); warna tum mere qareeb raho." Isliye woh unse aage gaye aur mushrikon ne unhe surakshit hone ka waada diya. Magar jabke woh Nabi ka sandesh de rahe the, unhone apne ek shaks ko ishara se bulaya jisne unhe chupkar maar diya. Mere mama ke bhai ne kaha: "Allah sabse bada hai! Ka'ba ke Rab ki qasam, main kaamyaab ho gaya." Iske baad unhone baaki logon par hamla kiya aur ek langde shaks ke siwaa sab qatl kar diye jo pahad ki chotti par chadh gaya. (Hammam, doosre raawi ne kaha: "Mujhe lagta hai ek aur shaks bhi unke saath bach gaya tha.") Jibreel ne Nabi ko bataya ke woh (yaani shuhada) apne Rab se mile, aur Allah unse khush tha aur usne unhe khush kiya. Hum yeh padhte the: "Humari qaum ko batao ke hum apne Rab se mil chuke hain, woh humse khush hai aur usne humein khush kiya hai." Baad mein yeh Quranic Ayat mansookh ho gayi. Nabi ne chaalis din tak Allah se dua ki ke woh Ral, Dhakwan, Bani Lihyan aur Bani Usaiya qabilon ke qaatilon par laanat bheje jinhone Allah aur uske Rasool ki na-farmani ki thi.
