Hadith text

Narrated Anas:My uncle Anas bin An-Nadr was absent from the Battle of Badr. He said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I was absent from the first battle you fought against the pagans. (By Allah) if Allah gives me a chance to fight the pagans, no doubt. Allah will see how (bravely) I will fight." On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their backs and fled, he said, "O Allah! I apologize to You for what these (i.e. his companions) have done, and I denounce what these (i.e. the pagans) have done." Then he advanced and Sa`d bin Mu`adh met him. He said "O Sa`d bin Mu`adh ! By the Lord of An-Nadr, Paradise! I am smelling its aroma coming from before (the mountain of) Uhud," Later on Sa`d said, "O Allah's Apostle! I cannot achieve or do what he (i.e. Anas bin An-Nadr) did. We found more than eighty wounds by swords and arrows on his body. We found him dead and his body was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could recognize him by his fingers." We used to think that the following Verse was revealed concerning him and other men of his sort: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.........." (33.23) His sister Ar-Rubbaya' broke a front tooth of a woman and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered for retaliation. On that Anas (bin An-Nadr) said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! By Him Who has sent you with the Truth, my sister's tooth shall not be broken." Then the opponents of Anas's sister accepted the compensation and gave up the claim of retaliation. So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "There are some people amongst Allah's slaves whose oaths are fulfilled by Allah when they take them

Anas bataate hain: Mere chacha Anas bin An-Nadr Badr ki jung mein maujood nahi the. Unhone kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Main us pehli jung mein maujood nahi tha jo aapne mushrikon ke khilaf ladi. (Allah ki qasam) agar Allah mujhe mushrikon se jung karne ka mauka de, Allah zaroor dekhega main kitni bahaduri se jung karta hoon." Uhud ki jung ke din, jab Musalman peeche hatne lage, unhone kaha: "Aye Allah! Main tujhse un logon (yaani apne saathiyon) ke kiye ka maafinaama maangta hoon, aur main un logon (yaani mushrikon) ke kiye se khud ko alag karta hoon." Phir woh aage badhe aur Sa'd bin Mu'adh unse mile. Unhone kaha: "Aye Sa'd bin Mu'adh! An-Nadr ke Rab ki qasam, Jannat! Main iski khushbu Uhud (pahad) ke saamne se mahsoos kar raha hoon." Baad mein Sa'd ne kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Main woh nahi kar sakta jo unhone (Anas bin An-Nadr) kiya." Humein unke jism par talwaron aur teeron ke assi se zyada zakhm mile. Hum unhe murda paaye aur unka jism itna vikrit tha ke sirf unki behn hi unhe unki ungliyon se pehchaan sakin. Hum sochte the ke yeh ayat unke aur unke jaise doosre logon ke baare mein nazil hui: "Momino mein aise log hain jinhone Allah se kiya apna ahad sach kiya hai..." (33:23). Unki behn Ar-Rubbaya ne ek aurat ka agla daant tod diya tha aur Allah ke Rasool ne badla lene ka hukum diya. Isspar Anas (bin An-Nadr) ne kaha: "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Us zaat ki qasam jisne aapko haqq ke saath bheja, meri behn ka daant nahi toda jaayega." Phir Anas ki behn ke muqabil logon ne mua'wza qubool kiya aur badla lene ka daava chhod diya. Isliye Allah ke Rasool ne kaha: "Allah ke kuch bande aise hain jinki qasmen Allah poori kar deta hai jab woh unhe lete hain."
