Hadith text

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d As-Sa`idi:I saw Marwan bin Al-Hakam sitting in the Mosque. So I came forward and sat by his side. He told us that Zaid bin Thabit had told him that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had dictated to him the Divine Verse: "Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and lives.' (4.95) Zaid said, "Ibn Um-Maktum came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was dictating to me that very Verse. On that Ibn Um Maktum said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! If I had power, I would surely take part in Jihad." He was a blind man. So Allah sent down revelation to His Apostle while his thigh was on mine and it became so heavy for me that I feared that my thigh would be broken. Then that state of the Prophet (ﷺ) was over after Allah revealed "...except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame etc)

Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sa'idi bataate hain: Maine Marwan bin Al-Hakam ko masjid mein baithe dekha. Isliye main aage aaya aur unke bagal mein baith gaya. Unhone humein bataya ke Zaid bin Thabit ne unse kaha tha ke Allah ke Rasool ne unhe yeh Divine Ayat bolkar likhwaee: "Barabar nahi hain woh momin jo (ghar par) baithe rehte hain aur woh jo Allah ki raah mein apni jaan-maal se koshish karte hain" (4:95). Zaid ne kaha: "Ibn Um-Maktum Nabi ke paas aaye jabke woh yehi Ayat mujhe bolkar likhwa rahe the. Isspar Ibn Um Maktum ne kaha, 'Ya Allah ke Rasool! Agar mujhme taakat hoti, main zaroor Jihad mein shaamil hota.' Woh ek andhe shaks the. Isliye Allah ne apne Rasool par wahi nazil ki jabke unki raan meri raan par thi, aur yeh mere liye itni bhaari ho gayi ke mujhe dar tha meri raan tut jaaegi. Phir Nabi ki yeh haalat khatam hui jab Allah ne yeh nazil ki: '...siwaye un ke jo asakt hain (chot ki wajah se, ya andhe ya langde hain).'"
