Hadith text

Narrated Anas bin Malik:The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Abu Talha, "Choose one of your boy servants to serve me in my expedition to Khaibar." So, Abu Talha took me letting me ride behind him while I was a boy nearing the age of puberty. I used to serve Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) when he stopped to rest. I heard him saying repeatedly, "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from distress and sorrow, from helplessness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being heavily in debt and from being overcome by men." Then we reached Khaibar; and when Allah enabled him to conquer the Fort (of Khaibar), the beauty of Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtab was described to him. Her husband had been killed while she was a bride. So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) selected her for himself and took her along with him till we reached a place called Sa`d-As-Sahba,' where her menses were over and he took her for his wife. Hais (a kind of dish) was served on a small leather sheet. Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told me to call those who were around me. So, that was the marriage banquet of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and Safiya. Then we left for Medina. I saw Allah's Apostle folding a cloak round the hump of the camel so as to make a wide space for Safiya (to sit on behind him) He sat beside his camel letting his knees for Safiya to put her feet on so as to mount the camel. Then, we proceeded till we approached Medina; he looked at Uhud (mountain) and said, "This is a mountain which loves us and is loved by us." Then he looked at Medina and said, "O Allah! I make the area between its (i.e. Medina's) two mountains a sanctuary as Abraham made Mecca a sanctuary. O Allah! Bless them (i.e. the people of Medina) in their Mudd and Sa (i.e. measures)

Anas bin Malik bataate hain: Nabi ne Abu Talha se kaha, "Apne ladke gulaamon mein se ek chuno jo mera Khaibar ki muhim mein khidmat kare." Isliye Abu Talha ne mujhe liya aur apne peeche sawar kiya jabke main baalig hone ke qareeb ek ladka tha. Main Allah ke Rasool ki khidmat karta jab woh aaram karne ke liye rukte. Maine unhe baar-baar kehte suna, "Aye Allah! Main tujhse pareshaani aur gam se, kamzori aur aalasya se, kanjoosi aur kaayarta se, bahut zyada qarzdaar hone se aur logon par kaabu na paane se panah maangta hoon." Phir hum Khaibar pahunche; aur jab Allah ne unhe Qila (Khaibar ka) fatah karna naseeb kiya, unhe Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtab ki khoobsurati ke baare mein bataya gaya. Uske shohar ko qatl kiya gaya tha jabke woh nayi dulhan thi. Isliye Allah ke Rasool ne unhe apne liye chuna aur unhe apne saath le gaye jab tak hum ek jagah pahunche jise Sa'd-As-Sahba kaha jata tha, jahan unka mahina khatam hua aur unhone unse shaadi ki. Hais (ek qisam ka khaana) ek chhote chamde ki chadar par pesh kiya gaya. Phir Allah ke Rasool ne mujhse mere aas-paas ke logon ko bulane ko kaha. To yehi Allah ke Rasool aur Safiya ki shaadi ki dawat thi. Phir hum Madina ke liye rawana hue. Maine Allah ke Rasool ko ek chadar unt ke kohaan (hump) ke gird lapette dekha taake Safiya (unke peeche baithne) ke liye jagah bane. Woh apne unt ke bagal mein baithte aur Safiya ko apne ghutnon par apne paon rakhne dete taake woh unt par sawar ho sake. Phir hum aage badhte gaye jab tak Madina ke qareeb pahunche; unhone Uhud (pahad) ki taraf dekha aur kaha, "Yeh ek pahad hai jo humse mohabbat karta hai aur jisse hum mohabbat karte hain." Phir unhone Madina ki taraf dekha aur kaha, "Aye Allah! Main iske (yaani Madina ke) do pahadon ke beech ki jagah ko Hima banata hoon, jaise Ibrahim ne Mecca ko Hima banaya. Aye Allah! Unhe (yaani Madina ke logon ko) unke Mudd aur Sa (naapne ki maapak) mein barkat de."
