Hadith text

Narrated Sahl:That he was asked about the wound of the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day (of the battle) of Uhud. He said, "The face of the Prophet (ﷺ) was wounded and one of his front teeth was broken and the helmet over his head was smashed. Fatima washed off the blood while `Ali held water. When she saw that the bleeding was increasing continuously, she burnt a mat (of date-palm leaves) till it turned into ashes which she put over the wound and thus the bleeding ceased

Sahl bataate hain: Unse Uhud ki jung ke din Nabi ke zakhm ke baare mein pucha gaya. Unhone kaha, "Nabi ka chehra zakhmi hua aur unka ek agla daant tut gaya aur unke sar ka khod tut gaya. Fatima ne khoon dhoya jabke Ali ne paani rakha. Jab unhone dekha ke khoon lagatar badh raha hai, unhone ek chataee (khajoor ke patton ki) jalaee jab tak woh raakh ban gayi, jise unhone zakhm par rakha aur isse khoon behna ruk gaya."
