Sahih al-Bukhari 2964

Narrated `Abdullah:Today a man came to me and asked me a question which I did not know how to answer. He said, "Tell me, if a wealthy active man, well-equipped with arms, goes out on military expeditions with our chiefs, and orders us to do such things as we cannot do (should we obey him?)" I replied, "By Allah, I do not know what to reply to you, except that we, were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) and he used to order us to do a thing once only till we finished it. And no doubt, everyone among you will remain in a good state as long as he obeys Allah. If one is in doubt as to the legality of something, he should ask somebody who would satisfy him, but soon will come a time when you will not find such a man. By Him, except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. I see that the example of what has passed of this life (to what remains thereof) is like a pond whose fresh water has been used up and nothing remains but muddy water

Abdullah bataate hain: Aaj ek shaks mere paas aaya aur mujhse ek sawaal pucha jiska jawab mujhe nahi pata tha kaise dun. Usne kaha, "Mujhe bataiye, agar ek maldaar, fauri, achhe hathiyaar se lais shaks humare sardaron ke saath fauji muhim par jata hai aur humein aisi cheezon ka hukum deta hai jo hum nahi kar sakte (kya humein uski itaaat karni chahiye?)" Maine jawab diya, "Allah ki qasam, mujhe nahi pata tumhe kya jawab dun, siwaye is ke ke hum Nabi ki sohbat mein the aur woh humein ek kaam ka hukum sirf ek baar dete the jab tak hum use poora na kar len. Aur beshak, tum mein se har ek achhi haalat mein rahega jab tak woh Allah ki itaaat karta hai. Agar koi kisi cheez ki jaizta ke baare mein shak mein ho, use kisi se puchna chahiye jo use santusht kare, magar jald hi aisa waqt aayega jab tumhe aisa shaks nahi milega. Us zaat ki qasam jiske siwa koi mabood nahi hai, mujhe lagta hai baki bache is zindagi ki misaal ek talaab jaisi hai jiska taaza paani khatam ho chuka hai aur sirf ganda paani bacha hai."
