Sahih al-Bukhari 3071

Hadith text

Narrated Um Khalid:(the daughter of Khalid bin Sa`id) I went to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) with my father and I was wearing a yellow shirt. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Sanah, Sanah!" (`Abdullah, the narrator, said that 'Sanah' meant 'good' in the Ethiopian language). I then started playing with the seal of Prophethood (in between the Prophet's shoulders) and my father rebuked me harshly for that. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Leave her," and then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (invoked Allah to grant me a long life) by saying (thrice), "Wear this dress till it is worn out and then wear it till it is worn out, and then wear it till it is worn out." (The narrator adds, "It is said that she lived for a long period, wearing that (yellow) dress till its color became dark because of long wear

Um Khalid (Khalid bin Sa'id ki beti) bataati hain: Main apne waalid ke saath Allah ke Rasool ke paas gayi aur maine ek peeli qameej pehni hui thi. Allah ke Rasool ne kaha, "Sanah, Sanah!" (Abdullah, raawi ne kaha ke 'Sanah' Ethiopiyaee bhaasha mein 'achha' ke liye tha.) Phir main Nabuvvat ki muhar (Nabi ke kandhon ke beech) se khelne lagi aur mere waalid ne mujhe iske liye sakhti se daanta. Allah ke Rasool ne kaha, "Ise chhod do," aur phir Allah ke Rasool ne (mere liye lambi umr ki dua ki) yeh kehte huye (teen baar), "Ise pehno jab tak yeh phat na jaaye, phir ise pehno jab tak yeh phat na jaaye, phir ise pehno jab tak yeh phat na jaaye." (Raawi ne joda, "Kaha jata hai ke woh lambi umr tak jinda rahi, us (peeli) libaas ko pahnte huye jab tak lambe istemal se uska rang gahra ho gaya.")
