Sahih al-Bukhari 3165

Hadith text

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) once said to me, "If the revenue of Bahrain came, I would give you this much and this much." When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had died, the revenue of Bahrain came, and Abu Bakr announced, " Let whoever was promised something by Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) come to me." So, I went to Abu Bakr and said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, 'If the revenue of Bahrain came, I would give you this much and this. much." On that Abu Bakr said to me, "Scoop (money) with both your hands." I scooped money with both my hands and Abu Bakr asked me to count it. I counted it and it was five-hundred (gold pieces). The total amount he gave me was one thousand and five hundred (gold pieces.) Narrated Anas: Money from Bahrain was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) . He said, "Spread it in the Mosque." It was the biggest amount that had ever been brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . In the meantime Al-`Abbas came to him and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Give me, for I gave the ransom of myself and `Aqil." The Prophet said (to him), "Take." He scooped money with both hands and poured it in his garment and tried to lift it, but he could not and appealed to the Prophet, "Will you order someone to help me in lifting it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No." Then Al-`Abbas said, "Then will you yourself help me carry it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No." Then Al `Abbas threw away some of the money, but even then he was not able to lift it, and so he again requested the Prophet (ﷺ) "Will you order someone to help me carry it?" The Prophet said, "No." Then Al-`Abbas said, "Then will you yourself yelp me carry it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'No." So, Al-`Abbas threw away some more money and lifted it on his shoulder and went away. The Prophet (ﷺ) kept on looking at him with astonishment at his greediness till he went out of our sight. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not get up from there till not a single Dirham remained from that money

Jabir bin Abdullah bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool ne ek baar mujhse kaha, "Agar Bahrain ki aamdani aee, main tumhe itna aur itna dunga." Jab Allah ke Rasool ka intiqal ho gaya, Bahrain ki aamdani aee, aur Abu Bakr ne elaan kiya, "Jise bhi Allah ke Rasool ne kuch waada kiya ho, woh mere paas aaye." Isliye main Abu Bakr ke paas gaya aur kaha, "Allah ke Rasool ne mujhse kaha tha, 'Agar Bahrain ki aamdani aee, main tumhe itna aur itna dunga.'" Isspar Abu Bakr ne mujhse kaha, "Apne donon haathon se (paisa) nikal lo." Maine apne donon haathon se paisa nikala aur Abu Bakr ne mujhse use ginane ko kaha. Maine gina aur woh paanch sau (sone ke sikke) nikla. Kul jitna unhonne mujhe diya woh ek hazaar paanch sau (sone ke sikke) tha. Anas bataate hain: Bahrain se paisa Nabi ke paas laaya gaya. Unhone kaha, "Ise masjid mein failaa do." Yeh sabse badi rakam thi jo kabhi Allah ke Rasool ke paas laee gaee thi. Isi dauran Al-Abbas unke paas aaye aur kaha, "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Mujhe dijiye, kyunke maine apna aur Aqil ka fidya ada kiya hai." Nabi ne (unse) kaha, "Le lo." Unhone apne donon haathon se paisa nikala aur apne kapde mein daalkar use uthane ki koshish ki, magar woh na utha sake aur Nabi se guzarish ki, "Kya aap kisi ko mujhe ise uthane mein madad karne ka hukum denge?" Nabi ne kaha, "Nahi." Phir Al-Abbas ne kaha, "Phir kya aap khud mujhe ise le jane mein madad karenge?" Nabi ne kaha, "Nahi." Phir Al-Abbas ne kuch paisa gira diya, magar phir bhi woh use na utha sake, aur unhonne phir Nabi se guzarish ki, "Kya aap kisi ko mujhe ise le jane mein madad karne ka hukum denge?" Nabi ne kaha, "Nahi." Phir Al-Abbas ne kaha, "Phir kya aap khud mujhe ise le jane mein madad karenge?" Nabi ne kaha, "Nahi." Isliye Al-Abbas ne aur kuch paisa gira diya aur use apne kandhe par uthakar chale gaye. Nabi unhe hairat se dekhte rahe unki lalach par jab tak woh humari nazron se ojhal ho gaye. Allah ke Rasool wahaan se tab tak nahi uthe jab tak us paise mein se ek bhi Dirham nahi bacha.
