Sahih al-Bukhari 3224

Hadith text

Narrated `Aisha:I stuffed for the Prophet (ﷺ) a pillow decorated with pictures (of animals) which looked like a Namruqa (i.e. a small cushion). He came and stood between the two doors and his face began to change. I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What did we do wrong?" He said, "What is this pillow?" I said, "I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it." He said, "Don't you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)?

Ayesha bataati hain: Maine Nabi ke liye ek takiya bhara jispar tasveerein (janwaron ki) bani hui thi jo Namruqa (yaani ek chhota cushion) jaisa dikhta tha. Woh aaye aur do darwazon ke beech khade ho gaye aur unka chehra badalna shuru hua. Maine kaha, "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Humne kya galat kiya hai?" Unhone kaha, "Yeh takiya kya hai?" Maine kaha, "Maine yeh takiya aapke liye taiyaar kiya hai taake aap ispar tek sakein." Unhone kaha, "Kya tumhe nahi pata ke farishte aise ghar mein daakhil nahi hote jahaan tasveeren hoti hain; aur jo bhi tasveer banata hai, use Qiyamat ke din saza di jaayegi aur usse kaha jaaega ke woh (apni banaee cheez) mein jaan dele?"
