Sahih al-Bukhari 3238

Hadith text

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "The Divine Inspiration was delayed for a short period but suddenly, as I was walking. I heard a voice in the sky, and when I looked up towards the sky, to my surprise, I saw the angel who had come to me in the Hira Cave, and he was sitting on a chair in between the sky and the earth. I was so frightened by him that I fell on the ground and came to my family and said (to them), 'Cover me! (with a blanket), cover me!' Then Allah sent the Revelation: "O, You wrapped up (In a blanket)! (Arise and warn! And your Lord magnify And keep pure your garments, And desert the idols)

Jabir bin Abdullah bataate hain: Unhone Nabi ko yeh kehte suna, "Divine ilham kuch waqt ke liye ruka raha, magar achanak, jabke main chal raha tha, maine aasman mein ek aawaz suni, aur jab maine upar dekha, hairat se, maine woh Farishta dekha jo mujhe Hira ki gufa mein mile the, aur woh aasman aur zameen ke beech ek kursi par baithe hue the. Main unse itna dar gaya ke main zameen par gir gaya aur apne pariwara ke paas aaya aur (unse) kaha, 'Mujhe dhaak do (kambal se), mujhe dhaak do!' Phir Allah ne yeh wahi bheji: 'Aye tum jo (kambal mein) lipete huye ho! (utho aur chetaao, aur apne Rab ki barhaee karo, aur apne kapde paak rakho, aur buton se door raho).'"
