Sahih al-Bukhari 3281

Hadith text

Narrated Safiya bint Huyay:While Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was in I`tikaf, I called on him at night and having had a talk with him, I got up to depart. He got up also to accompany me to my dwelling place, which was then in the house of Usama bin Zaid. Two Ansari men passed by, and when they saw the Prophet (ﷺ) they hastened away. The Prophet said (to them). "Don't hurry! It is Safiya, the daughter of Huyay (i.e. my wife)." They said, "Glorified be Allah! O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! (How dare we suspect you?)" He said, "Satan circulates in the human mind as blood circulates in it, and I was afraid that Satan might throw an evil thought (or something) into your hearts

Safiya bint Huyay bataati hain: Jabke Allah ke Rasool I'tikaf mein the, main raat ko unse milne gaee aur unse baat karke, main jane ke liye uthi. Woh bhi mujhe mere rehne ki jagah tak chhodne ke liye uthe, jo us waqt Usama bin Zaid ke ghar mein thi. Do Ansaari log wahaan se guzre, aur jab unhone Nabi ko dekha, woh jaldi se chale gaye. Nabi ne (unse) kaha, "Jaldi mat karo! Yeh Safiya hain, Huyay ki beti (yaani meri biwi)." Unhone kaha, "Subhanallah! Ya Allah ke Rasool! (Hum aappar shak kaise kar sakte hain?)" Unhone kaha, "Shaitan insaan ke dimaag mein isi tarah ghumta hai jaise khoon unme ghumta hai, aur mujhe dar tha ke Shaitan tumhare dilon mein koi bura khyaal (ya kuch) daal de."
