Sahih al-Bukhari 3383

Hadith text

Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked, "Who is the most honorable amongst the people?" He replied, "The most Allah fearing." The people said, "We do not want to ask you about this." He said, "The most honorable person is Joseph, Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Khalil" The people said, 'We do not want to ask you about this." He said," Then you want to ask me about the origins of the Arabs? People are of various origins. The best in the pre-Islamic period are the best in Islam, provided they comprehend (the religious knowledge)

Abu Huraira bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool se pucha gaya, "Sab logon mein sabse izzatdaar kaun hai?" Unhone jawab diya, "Sabse zyada Allah se darne wala." Logon ne kaha, "Hum aapse yeh nahi puchna chahte." Unhone kaha, "Sabse izzatdaar shaks Yusuf hain, Allah ke Nabi, Allah ke Nabi ke bete, jo khud Allah ke Nabi ke bete the, jo khud Allah ke dost ke bete the." Logon ne kaha, "Hum aapse yeh bhi nahi puchna chahte." Unhone kaha, "Phir tum mujhse Arbon ki utpatti ke baare mein puchna chahte ho? Log alag-alag mool se hain. Jo Jahiliyat ke daur mein sabse behtar the, woh Islam mein bhi sabse behtar honge, bashart ke unhe (deen ka) gyaan ho jaaye."
