Hadith text

Narrated Anas:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not use to raise his hands in his invocations except in the Istisqa (i.e. invoking Allah for the rain) in which he used to raise his hands so high that one could see the whiteness of his armpits. (Note: It may be that Anas did not see the Prophet (ﷺ) raising his hands but it has been narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to raise his hands for invocations other than Istisqa. Anas bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool apni duaon mein apne haath nahi uthate the siwaye Istisqa (yaani barish ke liye dua) mein, jismein woh apne haath itne ooncha uthate ke unki baaghlon ki safedi dikh jaati. (Tippani: Ho sakta hai Anas ne Nabi ko haath uthate hue na dekha ho, magar yeh riwaayat hai ke Nabi Istisqa ke ilawa doosri duaon mein bhi apne haath uthate the.)
