Book 61: Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions · Hadith 135

حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ هَلْ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْمَاطٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ قُلْتُ وَأَنَّى يَكُونُ لَنَا الأَنْمَاطُ قَالَ ‏"‏ أَمَا إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ لَكُمُ الأَنْمَاطُ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأَنَا أَقُولُ لَهَا ـ يَعْنِي امْرَأَتَهُ ـ أَخِّرِي عَنِّي أَنْمَاطَكِ‏.‏ فَتَقُولُ أَلَمْ يَقُلِ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ لَكُمُ الأَنْمَاطُ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَأَدَعُهَا‏.‏

Narrated Jabir:(Once) the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Have you got carpets?" I replied, "Whence can we get carpets?" He said, "But you shall soon have carpets." I used to say to my wife, "Remove your carpets from my sight," but she would say, "Didn't the Prophet (ﷺ) tell you that you would soon have carpets?" So I would give up my request

Jabir bataate hain: (Ek baar) Nabi ne kaha, "Kya tumhare paas qaalinen hain?" Maine jawab diya, "Humein qaalinen kahaan se milengi?" Unhone kaha, "Magar jald hi tumhare paas qaalinen hongi." Main apni biwi se kaha karta tha, "Apni qaalinen meri nazron se hataa do," magar woh kahti, "Kya Nabi ne aapko nahi bataya tha ke jald hi aapke paas qaalinen hongi?" Isliye main apni maang chhod deta.
