Hadith text

Narrated Abu `Uthman:I got the news that Gabriel came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while Um Salama was present. Gabriel started talking (to the Prophet (ﷺ) and then left. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Um Salama, "(Do you know) who it was?" (or a similar question). She said, "It was Dihya (a handsome person amongst the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) )." Later on Um Salama said, "By Allah! I thought he was none but Dihya, till I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) talking about Gabriel in his sermon." (The Sub-narrator asked Abu `Uthman, "From where have you heard this narration?" He replied, "From Usama bin Zaid)

Abu Uthman bataate hain: Mujhe khabar mili ke Jibreel Nabi ke paas aaye jabke Um Salama maujood thi. Jibreel ne (Nabi se) baat ki aur phir chale gaye. Nabi ne Um Salama se pucha, "(Kya tumhe pata hai) yeh kaun tha?" (ya isse milta-julta sawal). Unhone kaha, "Yeh Dihya the (Nabi ke sahaba mein se ek khoobsurat shaks)." Baad mein Um Salama ne kaha, "Allah ki qasam! Maine socha yeh Dihya hi hain, jab tak maine Nabi ko apne khutbe mein Jibreel ke baare mein baat karte suna."
