Book 62: Companions of the Prophet · Hadith 6
Hadith text
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) addressed the people saying, "Allah has given option to a slave to choose this world or what is with Him. The slave has chosen what is with Allah." Abu Bakr wept, and we were astonished at his weeping caused by what the Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned as to a Slave ( of Allah) who had been offered a choice, (we learned later on) that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) himself was the person who was given the choice, and that Abu Bakr knew best of all of us. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) added, "The person who has favored me most of all both with his company and wealth, is Abu Bakr. If I were to take a Khalil other than my Lord, I would have taken Abu Bakr as such, but (what relates us) is the Islamic brotherhood and friendliness. All the gates of the Mosque should be closed except the gate of Abu Bakr
Abu Saeed Al-Khudri bataate hain: Allah ke Rasool ne logon ko sambodhit karte huye kaha, "Allah ne ek bande ko ikhtiyar diya hai ke woh duniya chune ya woh jo uske paas hai. Us bande ne jo Allah ke paas hai use chuna." Abu Bakr ro pade, aur hum unke rone se hairat mein pade, kyunke Nabi ne bataya tha ke ek bande ko ikhtiyar diya gaya (aur humein baad mein pata chala ke Allah ke Rasool khud woh shaks the jinko ikhtiyar diya gaya, aur Abu Bakr sab se zyada jaante the). Allah ke Rasool ne joda, "Jis shaks ne apni sohbat aur apni daulat se mujhpar sabse zyada ehsaan kiya hai, woh Abu Bakr hain. Agar main apne Rab ke siwa kisi ko Khalil (khaas dost) banata, main Abu Bakr ko banata, magar (humein jodne wali cheez) Islami bhaeechara aur dosti hai. Masjid ke sab darwaze band kiye jaenge siwaye Abu Bakr ke darwaze ke."
