Hadith text
Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I saw myself (in a dream) entering Paradise, and behold! I saw Ar-Rumaisa', Abu Talha's wife. I heard footsteps. I asked, Who is it? Somebody said, 'It is Bilal ' Then I saw a palace and a lady sitting in its courtyard. I asked, 'For whom is this palace?' Somebody replied, 'It is for `Umar.' I intended to enter it and see it, but I thought of your (`Umar's) Ghira (and gave up the attempt)." `Umar said, "Let my parents be sacrificed for you, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! How dare I think of my Ghira (self-respect) being offended by you?
Jabir bin Abdullah bataate hain: Nabi ne kaha, "Maine khud ko (ek khwab mein) Jannat mein daakhil hote dekha, aur dekho! Maine Ar-Rumaisa ko dekha, Abu Talha ki biwi. Maine kadmon ki aawaaz suni. Maine pucha, 'Yeh kaun hai?' Kisi ne kaha, 'Yeh Bilal hai.' Phir maine ek mahal dekha aur ek khaatun uske aangan mein baithi thi. Maine pucha, 'Yeh mahal kiska hai?' Kisi ne jawab diya, 'Yeh Umar ka hai.' Maine ismein daakhil hokar dekhna chaha, magar maine tumhari (Umar ki) ghairat (yaani izzat aur svabhimaan) ke baare mein sochkar aisa nahi kiya." Umar ne kaha, "Mere maa-baap aapke liye qurbaan hon, Ya Allah ke Rasool! Main kaise soch sakta hoon ke meri ghairat aapse (kisi cheez mein) apmaanit ho sakti hai?"
