Hadith text
Narrated Ibn `Umar:If a man saw a dream during the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ) he would narrate it to the Prophet. Once I wished to see a dream and narrate it to the Prophet (ﷺ) I was young, unmarried, and used to sleep in the Mosque during the lifetime of the Prophet. I dreamt that two angels took me and went away with me towards the (Hell) Fire which looked like a well with the inside walls built up, and had two side-walls like those of a well. There I saw some people in it whom I knew. I started saying, "I seek Refuge with Allah from the (Hell) Fire, I seek Refuge with Allah from the (Hell) Fire." Then another angel met the other two and said to me, "Do not be afraid." I narrated my dream to Hafsa who, in her turn, narrated it to the Prophet. He said, "What an excellent man `Abdullah is if he only observes the night prayer." (Salim, a sub-narrator said, "Abdullah used not to sleep at night but very little hence forward)
Ibn Umar bataate hain: Agar koi shaks Nabi ki zindagi mein koi khwab dekhta, woh use Nabi ko sunata. Ek baar main bhi chahta tha ke main koi khwab dekhun aur Nabi ko sunaun. Main jawan tha, ashaadi-shuda, aur Nabi ki zindagi mein masjid mein sota tha. Maine khwab mein dekha ke do farishte mujhe pakadkar (Dozakh ki) aag ki taraf le gaye jo ek kue jaisa dikhta tha, andar se deewaron se bana hua, aur uske do kinare the jaise ek kue ke. Wahaan maine kuch logon ko dekha jinhe main jaanta tha. Main kehne laga, "Main Allah ki panah maangta hoon (Dozakh ki) aag se, main Allah ki panah maangta hoon (Dozakh ki) aag se." Phir ek doosra farishta un donon se mila aur mujhe kaha, "Daro mat." Maine apna khwab Hafsa ko bataya, jinhone ise Nabi ko bataya. Unhone kaha, "Kaisa behtareen shaks hai Abdullah, agar woh raat ki namaz (nafil) padha kare." (Salim, doosre raawi ne kaha, "Abdullah tab se raat ko bahut kam sote the.")
