Book 62: Companions of the Prophet · Hadith 103

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلاَلٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَعَى زَيْدًا وَجَعْفَرًا وَابْنَ رَوَاحَةَ لِلنَّاسِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ خَبَرُهُمْ، فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ أَخَذَ الرَّايَةَ زَيْدٌ فَأُصِيبَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ جَعْفَرٌ فَأُصِيبَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ فَأُصِيبَ ـ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ ـ حَتَّى أَخَذَ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Anas:The Prophet (ﷺ) had informed the people about the death of Zaid, Ja`far and Ibn Rawaha before the news of their death reached them. He said with his eyes flowing with tears, "Zaid took the flag and was martyred; then Ja`far took the flag and was martyred, and then Ibn Rawaha took the flag and was martyred. Finally the flag was taken by one of Allah's Swords (i.e. Khalid bin Al-Walid) and Allah gave them (i.e. the Muslims) victory

Anas bataate hain: Nabi ne logon ko Zaid, Ja'far, aur Ibn Rawaha ki maut ki khabar unki maut ki khabar untak pahunchne se pahle di thi. Unhonne apni aankhon se aansu bahate huye kaha, "Zaid ne jhanda liya aur shaheed hue; phir Ja'far ne jhanda liya aur shaheed hue, aur phir Ibn Rawaha ne jhanda liya aur shaheed hue. Aakhirkar jhanda Allah ki ek Talwaron mein se ek (yaani Khalid bin Al-Walid) ne uthaya aur Allah ne unhe (yaani Musalmanon ko) fatah di."
