Hadith text

Narrated Aisha:The Prophet (ﷺ) engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became alright, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age

Ayesha bataati hain: Nabi ne mujhse mangni ki jab main chhah saal ki ladki thi. Hum Madina aaye aur Banu Al-Harith bin Khazraj ke ghar mein ruke. Phir main bimar padi aur mere baal jhad gaye. Baad mein mere baal phir badhe, aur meri maa, Um Ruman, mere paas aee jabke main kuch saheliyon ke saath jhule par khel rahi thi. Unhone mujhe pukara, aur main unke paas gaee, bina yeh jaane ke woh mere saath kya karna chahti hain. Unhone mera haath pakada aur mujhe ghar ke darwaze par khada kiya. Us waqt mera saans phoola hua tha, aur jab meri saansen theek huee, unhone kuch paani liya aur mere chehre aur sar par mala. Phir woh mujhe ghar ke andar le gaee. Wahaan ghar mein maine kuch Ansaar aurton ko dekha jinhone kaha, "Shubh kaamnaen aur Allah ki barkat aur achhi kismat." Phir unhone mujhe unke haath mein sonp diya aur unhone mujhe (shaadi ke liye) taiyaar kiya. Achanak Allah ke Rasool dopahar ke waqt mere paas aaye aur meri maa ne mujhe unhe sonp diya, aur us waqt main nau saal ki ladki thi.
