Hadith text

Narrated Al-Bara:When it was the day of Al-Ahzab (i.e. the clans) and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) dug the trench, I saw him carrying earth out of the trench till dust made the skin of his `Abdomen out of my sight and he was a hairy man. I heard him reciting the poetic verses composed by Ibn Rawaha while he was carrying the earth, "O Allah! Without You we would not have been guided, nor would we have given in charity, nor would we have prayed. So, (O Allah), please send Sakina (i.e. calmness) upon us and make our feet firm if we meet the enemy, as they have rebelled against us. And if they intend affliction (i.e. want to frighten us, and fight against us) then we would not (flee but withstand them)." The Prophet (ﷺ) would then prolong his voice at the last words

Al-Bara bataate hain: Jab Al-Ahzab (yaani (mushrikon ke) giroh) ka din aaya aur Allah ke Rasool ne khaee khodi, maine unhe khaee se mitti nikalte dekha jab tak dhool ne unke pet ki chamda mujhse chhupa di, aur woh baal wale shaks the. Maine unhe Ibn Rawaha dwaara likhi kavita padhte suna jabke woh mitti le ja rahe the, "Aye Allah! Tere bina humein hidaayat nahi milti, na humne daan diya hota, na namaz padhi hoti. Isliye (Aye Allah), kripya humpar Sakina (yaani shaanti) bhej aur humare paanv mazboot kar agar hum dushman se milen, kyunke unhone humare khilaf baghaavat ki hai. Aur agar woh takleef pahunchana chahte hain (yaani humein daraana aur humse jung karna chahte hain to hum) nahi (bhaagenge, balki unka saamna karenge)." Nabi phir aakhri alfaaz par apni aawaaz lambi karte the.
