Sahih al-Bukhari 4191

Hadith text

Narrated Ka`b bin Ujra:We were in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) at Al-Hudaibiya in the state of Ihram and the pagans did not allow us to proceed (to the Ka`ba). I had thick hair and lice started falling on my face. The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by me and said, "Are the lice of your head troubling you?" I replied, Yes." (The sub-narrator added, "Then the following Divine Verse was revealed:-- "And if anyone of you is ill or has an ailment in his scalp, (necessitating shaving) must pay a ransom (Fidya) of either fasting or feeding the poor, Or offering a sacrifice

Ka'b bin Ujra bataate hain: Hum Allah ke Rasool ki sohbat mein Al-Hudaibiya mein Ihram ki haalat mein the aur mushrikon ne humein aage badhne nahi diya (Ka'ba tak). Mere baal mote the aur joonen mere chehre par girne lagi. Nabi mere paas se guzre aur kaha, "Kya tumhare sar ki joonen tumhe pareshaan kar rahi hain?" Maine jawab diya, "Haan." (Subordinate raawi ne joda, "Phir yeh Divine Ayat naazil huee: 'Aur agar tummein se koee bimar hai ya uske sar mein koee takleef hai (jiske liye baal munwane ki zaroorat pade), use fidya (yaani prayaschit) dena chahiye ya to roza rakhkar ya gareebon ko khilaakar ya ek qurbani dekar.'")
