Sahih al-Bukhari 4369

Hadith text

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:The delegation of `Abdul Qais came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) We belong to the tribe of Rabi`a. The infidels of Mudar tribe intervened between us and you so that we cannot come to you except in the Sacred Months, so please order us some things we may act on and invite those left behind to act on. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I order you to observe four things and forbid you from four things: (I order you) to believe in Allah, i.e. to testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah." The Prophet (ﷺ) pointed with his finger indicating one and added, "To offer prayers perfectly: to give Zakat, and to give one-fifth of the booty you win (for Allah's Sake). I forbid you to use Ad-Dubba', An-Naqir, Al-Hantam and Al-Muzaffat, (Utensils used for preparing alcoholic liquors and drinks)

Ibn Abbas bataate hain: Abdul Qais ka pratinidhimandal Nabi ke paas aaya aur kaha, "Ya Allah ke Rasool! Hum Rabi'a qabile se hain. Mudar qabile ke kaafiron ne humare aur aapke beech dakhal diya hai isliye hum aapke paas sirf pavitra mahinon mein aa sakte hain, isliye kripya humein kuch cheezen sikhaiye jinpar hum amal kar saken aur unhe apne peeche chhode gaye logon ko bhi bulane ke liye istemal kar saken." Nabi ne kaha, "Main tumhe chaar cheezen karne ka hukum deta hoon aur chaar cheezon se mana karta hoon: (Main tumhe hukum deta hoon) Allah par iman rakhne ka, yaani gawahi dene ka ke Allah ke siwa koee mabood nahi hai." Nabi ne apni ungli se ishara kiya, ek gina, aur joda, "Namazen poori tarah se padhna; Zakat dena, aur jo maal-e-ghanimat tum jitte ho uska ek-paanchvaan hissa dena (Allah ki khaatir). Main tumhe Ad-Dubba, An-Naqir, Al-Hantam, aur Al-Muzaffat (yaani alcoholic peyon aur peyon ke bartan taiyaar karne mein istemal hone wale bartan) istemal karne se mana karta hoon."
