Sahih al-Bukhari 4484

Hadith text

Narrated `Aisha:(The wife of the Prophet) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Don't you see that when your people built the Ka`ba, they did not build it on all Abraham's foundations?" I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Why don't you rebuild it on Abraham's foundations?" He said, "Were your people not so close to (the period of Heathenism, i.e. the Period between their being Muslims and being infidels), I would do so." The sub-narrator, `Abdullah bin `Umar said, "Aisha had surely heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying that, for I do not think that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) left touching the two corners of the Ka`ba facing Al-Hijr except because the Ka`ba was not built on all Abraham's foundations

Aisha (Nabi ki zawja) bataati hain: Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Kya tumhe pata nahi ke jab tumhari qaum ne Kaaba banaya, to unhone use Ibrahim ki poori buniyaadon par nahi banaya?' Maine kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Aap ise Ibrahim ki buniyaadon par dobara kyun nahi bana lete?' Unhone farmaya, 'Agar tumhari qaum jaahiliyat ke daur se itni nazdeek na hoti (yaani abhi haal hi mein Islam laayi hoti), to main aisa zaroor karta.' Ravi Abdullah bin Umar kehte hain, 'Aisha ne zaroor Allah ke Rasool (SAW) se ye sunna hoga, kyunke mujhe nahi lagta ke Allah ke Rasool (SAW) Hijr ki taraf wale Kaaba ke do konon ko chhoona chhodte, siwaaye is wajah se ke Kaaba Ibrahim ki poori buniyaadon par nahi bana tha.'
