Hadith text
Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:That the Prophet (ﷺ) dictated to him: "Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home) and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah." Zaid added: Ibn Um Maktum came while the Prophet (ﷺ) was dictating to me and said, "O Allah's Apostle! By Allah, if I had the power to fight (in Allah's Cause), I would," and he was a blind man. So Allah revealed to His Apostle while his thigh was on my thigh, and his thigh became so heavy that I was afraid it might fracture my thigh. Then that state of the Prophet (ﷺ) passed and Allah revealed:-- "Except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame etc)
Zaid bin Thabit bataate hain: Nabi (SAW) ne mujhse ye likhwaaya: 'Wo Musalmaan jo (ghar mein) baithe rehte hain aur wo jo Allah ki raah mein jihaad karte hain, dono barabar nahi hain.' Zaid ne aage kaha: Jab Nabi (SAW) mujhse ye likhwaa rahe the, Ibn Umm Maktoom aaye aur kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Allah ki qasam, agar mujhme jihaad karne ki taaqat hoti to main zaroor karta,' aur wo ek nabeena (andhe) shaks the. Isper Allah ne Apne Rasool par wahi naazil ki jabke unki jaanghen meri jaangh par thi, aur unka wazan itna badh gaya ke mujhe dar hua ke kahin meri jaangh na toot jaaye. Phir Nabi (SAW) ki ye kaifiyat guzar gayi aur Allah ne naazil farmaya: '...siwaaye un logon ke jo maazoor hain (chot ki wajah se ya andhepan ya langdepan ki wajah se)...'
