Hadith text

Narrated Shaqiq:Abu Mas`ud Al-Ansari said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), used to order us to give alms. So one of us would exert himself to earn one Mud (special measure of wheat or dates, etc.,) to give in charity; while today one of us may have one hundred thousand." Shaqiq said: As if Abu Masud referred to himself

Shaqiq bataate hain: Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari ne kaha, 'Allah ke Rasool (SAW) humein sadqa dene ka hukm diya karte the, to hum mein se koi mehnat karke ek Mudd (anaaj naapne ki ikaai, gehun ya khajoor waghera) kama kar sadqa deta, jabke aaj hum mein se kisi ke paas ek lakh (dirham) tak hote hain.' Shaqiq kehte hain, 'Aisa lagta tha ke Abu Mas'ud apne baare mein hi ishara kar rahe the.'
