Hadith text
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:When the Prophet (ﷺ) arrived at Medina, the Jews were observing the fast on 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram) and they said, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh," On that, the Prophet (ﷺ) said to his companions, "You (Muslims) have more right to celebrate Moses' victory than they have, so observe the fast on this day
Ibn Abbas bataate hain: Jab Nabi (SAW) Madina pahunche, to Yahudi Ashura (Muharram ki dus tareekh) ke din roza rakh rahe the aur unhone kaha, 'Ye wo din hai jab Musa ne Firaun par fatah paayi thi.' Isper Nabi (SAW) ne apne sahaaba se farmaya, 'Tum (Musalmaan) Musa ki is fatah ka jashn manaane ke unse zyaada haqdaar ho, isliye is din ka roza rakho.'
