Narrated Ibn `Abbas:When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) arrived at Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked them (about it) and they replied, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh." The Prophet (ﷺ) said (to the Muslims), "We are nearer to Moses than they, so fast on this day
Ibn Abbas bataate hain: Jab Allah ke Rasool (SAW) Madina pahunche, to unhone dekha ke Yahudi Ashura (Muharram ki dus tareekh) ke din roza rakh rahe hain. Nabi (SAW) ne unse (iske baare mein) pucha, unhone jawab diya, 'Ye wo din hai jab Musa ne Firaun par fatah paayi thi.' Nabi (SAW) ne (Musalmaanon se) farmaya, 'Hum Musa se unse (Yahudiyon se) zyaada qareeb hain, isliye is din ka roza rakho.'
