Sahih al-Bukhari 4907

Hadith text

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:We were in a Ghazwa and a man from the emigrants kicked an Ansari (on the buttocks with his foot). The Ansari man said, "O the Ansari! (Help!)" The emigrant said, "O the emigrants! (Help)." When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) heard that, he said, "What is that?" They said, "A man from the emigrants kicked a man from the Ansar (on the buttocks his foot). On that the Ansar said, 'O the Ansar!' and the emigrant said, 'O the emigrants!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said' "Leave it (that call) for it Is a detestable thing." The number of Ansar was larger (than that of the emigrants) at the time when the Prophet (ﷺ) came to Medina, but later the number of emigrants increased. `Abdullah bin Ubai said, "Have they, (the emigrants) done so? By Allah, if we return to Medina, surely, the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner," `Umar bin Al-Khattab said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Let me chop off the head of this hypocrite!" The Prophet said, "Leave him, lest the people say Muhammad kills his companions:

Jabir bin Abdullah bataate hain: Hum ek Ghazwe mein the, aur Muhaajireen mein se ek shaks ne ek Ansaari ko (chootadon par) laat maar di. Ansaari shaks ne pukaara, 'Aye Ansaar! (Madad!)' Muhaajir ne pukaara, 'Aye Muhaajireen! (Madad!)' Jab Allah ke Rasool (SAW) ne ye suna, to unhone pucha, 'Ye kya hai?' Logon ne kaha, 'Muhaajireen mein se ek shaks ne Ansaar mein se ek ko (chootadon par) laat maar di. Isper Ansaari ne "Aye Ansaar!" pukaara aur Muhaajir ne "Aye Muhaajireen!" pukaara.' Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Ye (pukaar) chhod do, ye ek napasand cheez hai.' Jab Nabi (SAW) Madina aaye the, us waqt Ansaar ki tadaad Muhaajireen se zyaada thi, magar baad mein Muhaajireen ki tadaad badh gayi. Abdullah bin Ubai ne kaha, 'Kya (Muhaajireen ne) aisa kiya hai? Allah ki qasam, agar hum Madina wapas gaye, to izzat waale zaroor beizzaton ko wahaan se nikaal denge.' Umar bin Al-Khattab ne kaha, 'Aye Allah ke Rasool! Mujhe is munaafiq ka sar kaatne dijiye!' Nabi (SAW) ne farmaya, 'Use chhod do, kahin log ye na kahein ke Muhammad apne saathiyon ko qatl karta hai.'
